These are the rules that will be in effect. Please comment below if have any questions or input on these.
1. Each team can sign (keep them) 0-3 players from their previous end-of-season roster to a one year contract -Depending on what players are left on your team at the end of the previous season, you may wish to “keep” none of your players.
2. A manager can only sign (keep) 2 players that were kept the season before. – If a manager wishes to keep three players, one must be a player who was not kept in the previous year.
3. A Player can only be signed to a 1-year contract (kept) a maximum of 2 consecutive times. – This status stays with a player who is traded.
4. Players drafted in the first round of a draft cannot be kept in the following season
5. For each player that is kept, that manager must give up a draft pick 1 round higher than where the player was initially drafted the year before – This helps account for players that improve in talent each season while still significantly rewarding managers for sleeper picks.
Example: If your 7th round pick, Julius Jones is kept, your 6th round pick would be forfeited.
6. If your draft pick 1 pick higher is not available, the next highest pick [rounded up] would be forfeited – This rule prevents a manager from being able to keep two players drafted in the 2nd round.
Example: If you drafted Reggie Bush in the 4th Round and traded for Drew Brees who was also selected in the 4th round and you chose to keep both players, your 2nd and 3rd round picks would be forfeited because one of the picks would need to be rounded up to the next highest available pick. (The team manager would need to designate which player would selected in the effected rounds)
7. The draft position will be counted from year-to-year to determine the next year’s position for keeper status in the draft.
Example: Wide receiver Brandon Marshall was drafted in the 11th round last year. If kept, this year he would account for the teams 10th round pick. If kept again, the following year he would be considered the 9th round pick.
8. A waiver wire pick up player who was undrafted, if kept, will count for your 5th round pick. If your 5th round pick is already accounted for by another kept player, then it will be your next highest available pick.
9. A player drafted in rounds 6-14 who is dropped during the season would be given a K-Value of 5 if picked up by another manager off the FA list. If your 5th round pick is already accounted for by another kept player, then it will be your next highest available pick.
10. Draft order will be determined through a lottery that will be conducted for the 5th through 10th placed teams to select their draft position. The other 4 teams will select their draft position in reverse order.
